About us

Every day all of our lives are shaped by individuals doing great things – often behind the scenes, or away from the glare of publicity. People are the key to making our society and communities the special places that they are. So what could be better than to single some of them out for recognition with a British Citizens Award ?

These awards are a benchmark against which individuals will be able to measure their standing in the community; the respect with which they are held by others; and benefit from recognition for their endeavour.  All recipients of a BCA will also be featured on the BCA Roll of Honour.

Each nomination will be considered on its merits, and if further information is required, the nominator or nominee will be contacted to supply further information. The BCA Independent Assessment Panel will assess from the information contained in the submission and any other information available in the public domain, if the nomination is to be successful and ratify the decision to award a BCA.

There are nine individual categories, each having its own specific subject area, but all the BCAs are underpinned by the overarching qualities of transparency, integrity, determination and achievement.

If there is an exceptional individual person in your community or workplace that you feel is making a significant difference, someone that impacts your life and the lives of those around you, why not nominate them for a British Citizen Award? They need to be achieving something exceptional, a BCA should not be considered as a replacement for bouquet of flowers or a thank you note, it is recognition for determined, committed endeavour in improving the workplace or community – effectively impacting the lives of those around them.
