ADRIAN DUCKER, BCAc
Adrian has been volunteering in various roles at 1st Hinchley Wood Scouts for 45 years. He has led the group through lean times, he is a shining example to other volunteers. The group, under Adrian’s leadership now has a waiting list for all sections and has won Top Troop trophy 12 out of the last 13 years and contributed almost half of the Esher District’s contingent of candidates for next year’s World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia 2019.
He has devoted countless hours to the betterment of others, giving up weeks of annual leave to take 25 teenagers camping, cooking, climbing, kayaking and cycling for the last 30 years. He has kept the group going by making the maximum use of frugal funds and innovative fund raising. He finds time to apply for various grants and together with the group, collates, collects, labels and delivers in excess of 500 Christmas trees every year.
Adrian achieves this through interacting with his whole community, schools, churches, charities, associations and residents. One of his major annual contributions is the May Fair where the whole community get together in what can be quite an isolated area.
