AGNES FORDE, BCAc
In the 1980s Agnes was instrumental in the formation of an Irish Community organisation called the ‘Kinsale Association’ in London; 30 years on, the Irish Community Service has grown and flourished and annually reaches out to tens of thousands of people offering informative and practical services.
Agnes set up very successful Lunch Clubs in three London boroughs ensuring that the ageing population receive a hot, healthy meal in a safe environment, where they can socialise with others avoiding isolation. More recently Agnes’ own health has deteriorated which restricts her from being as active, but she is still the treasurer and undertakes public speaking engagements.
Recently named President of this influential group, Agnes is immensely proud. In this role she has attended many formal functions including The Irish Embassy in London by special invitation. Despite her health, Agnes has continued to support and promote the community where she is an inspiration to others by always placing their needs before her own, and for having the courage to speak on behalf of those whose voice is not always heard.
