Anthony Paul Holding (known as Paul) has been practising the sport of Aikido for over 45 years and has trained several members who have gone on to join the GB National team, including himself. Paul ran the non-profit Aikido Club as a volunteer for 30 years.
In May 2016,Paul suffered two heart attacks and a stroke leaving him with limited movement. His sheer determination to teaching and supporting his club drove him to overcome all barriers and he can now walk again.
He has supported and guided children and adults by positively encouraging social inclusion of everyone, regardless of race, religion, age and disability, he has developed a class dedicated to those with learning difficulties both physically and neurologically.
Running the Club has impacted many families over the years, offering many members in the community a social network and a place to be themselves, safe and included.
Many members over the years have had anxiety issues and depression and being in the club has helped them overcome this.
