DAVID HOLBY-WOLINSKI, BCAc
David has raised more than £50,000 for cancer charities after losing his mum and grandmother to breast cancer. He was nicknamed ‘Dave the Rower’ after his two-year epic challenge in Basingstoke to row ‘around the world’ on a static machine. The feat saw him gain a place in the Guinness Book of World Records which helped him with the fundraising. He has since completed 18 other endurance challenges to raise further funds for good causes.
Two years ago, David set up his own business and launched a charity wing called Knights4charity to encourage other business leaders to fundraise. His commitment to fundraising started aged eight after his grandmother passed away after battling breast cancer. Through the years his efforts have continued to help several different organisations, and he also launched a family fun day bringing together people from the community.
His nominator said: “Dave never feels he does enough to help others, so is always coming up with new ways to put his body through the mill – most recently, he completed seven marathons in seven days dressed as a Viking and carrying a ship across his shoulders!”.
