Baroness Wilcox, Joyce Rothschild, Kieran Keane from Places for People
Joyce is a volunteer fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support. Diagnosed aged 40 with aggressive Breast Cancer, one year later, with two children under 10 Joyce committed to raising funds for Macmillan to help fund equipment which helps patients with their recovery time.
Her novel approach to fundraising took the form of researching and writing an annual 100 question quiz. Since launching it 18 years ago, it has almost taken on a life form of its own with people from far flung corners of the world subscribing to buy the £2 quiz.
“The first prize of £35 appears less important than the enjoyment people get through supporting a good cause and having fun”
Joyce also leads her synagogue choir, supports others diagnosed with cancer and still finds time tothoroughly research and design her entertaining and taxing quiz each year. So far she has raised in excess of £100,000 for the charity. She has been recognised by Macmillan in a letter of thanks. She is a pillar of her faith community and devoted to helping where she can.
“Dedication, perseverance and attention to detail, hers is an extraordinary ongoing commitment”
