LYNNE MISNER BCAc
Lynne started the project ‘Warm in Winter’ following a boiler break down during a particularly cold spell where she was without heating or hot water for four days. During that time, she read an article about how many older people struggle to keep warm during the winter, as they are unable to afford to pay for extra heating. In a little over three years Lynne has had a positive impact on over 8,500 vulnerable and elderly people.
Lynne decided that although she could not change the life of every older person, she could make a start. She contacted wholesalers to source blankets, socks, gloves, hats and mugs for hot drinks, calling upon local businesses, councillors and friends to help her raise the £1,500 she needed to distribute the first 50 ‘Warm in Winter’ gift bags. Working in partnership with Hertfordshire Independent Living Service, Age UK Hertfordshire and other local organisations Lynne gained access to a hard-to-reach group.
Lynne runs the project completely in her spare time supported by a small and dedicated team of volunteers. Lynne’s dedication and passion for the project is contagious and she is relentless in her pursuit of funding.
