MOLLY BIRD, BCAv
Molly is one of the most popular and long-serving volunteers at Marie Curie, who during 25 years of service has provided a regular, supportive presence as part of the reception team at West Midlands Hospice in Solihull. Molly provides a warm welcoming face to visitors of the hospice, assisting them with their enquiries and signposting them in the right direction. She is a great comfort to patients and families who are new to the hospice, providing a calm and reassuring presence during a very difficult time in their lives. Molly always maintains a professional and responsible approach and understands the boundaries within her volunteering role.
In addition to her volunteering at Marie Curie, Molly also volunteers with other local charities such as The National Trust, also for 25 years and is an active member of her local church. Not only has Molly volunteered for Marie Curie for 25 years, but this year also celebrates her 90th birthday – still continuing to volunteer.
Molly’s contribution to volunteering has positively impacted the local community. The number of patients and families that access the hospice services rely heavily on support from volunteers, Molly’s reliable and consistent dedication, has enabled Marie Curie to maintain a high level of support to those families.
