NAHIM AHMED, BCA
Nahim was raised in one of the most deprived areas of the UK, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, where many young people are affected by poverty, gang culture, violent crime and mental health issues. Nahim has not only transformed himself but has helped transform the lives of hundreds of young people he has worked with over the past decade.
He has devoted his time to the young people in Tower Hamlets and uses the art of storytelling to engage and gain the trust with large audiences of young people. Nahim explains how he managed to turn it around, from failing his GCSE’s and being caught up in various issues as a young person to completing his studies from leading universities in the UK
Nahim uses all of his experiences and tackles youth violence and youth unemployment by visiting hotspots described as ‘no go areas’ by many residents and reaches out to the hardest-to-reach young people, bringing them into his youth centre. This is a safe space for young people where he offers tailored one-to-one support and over the past two years has helped over a hundred young people get into employment, training and apprenticeships.
