Sarah Hynds

Sarah Hynds with Martin Field of Pall-ExSarah, of Bracknell has dedicated over 20 years of her life to assisting at 1st Hersham Cub Pack, where she has spent the last 10 years as a leader. She began helping out with the cubs from the age of 13, quickly learning the values of volunteering, following in her father’s footsteps who was a senior figure in the Scout Association working his way up to district commissioner.

Sarah spends, on average, two nights a week attending meetings and cub pack nights, and also gives up her lunchtimes at work, to Cub planning and communicating with parents. Her commitment and dedication is also shown through attending Scout courses at the weekends, as well as Cub long weekend camps.

After moving away from the area over eight years ago, Sarah, unusually, has continued to contribute to the club and the local community, despite having to travel over 40 minutes to attend meetings and cub sessions. Sarah remained dedicated and committed to Cubs even through the difficult period of her father’s long illness and subsequent death. Sarah continues to work hard to maintain the Scouts traditions in today’s evolving society.

Through Sarah’s actions, the Cubs maintain a visible presence within Hersham Village, by arranging outside activities, village walks and regular visits to the local church. Sarah is recognised as an inspiration and role model to generations of children. The positive comments received from parents regarding how well the club is run, is attributed to Sarah’s organisational skills and commitments.
